About Kern County Bar Association Sections

The Criminal Defense Section of the KCBA was formed in 2002 to
provide for a unified voice representing members of the Defense
Bar in, and outside of court.

The organization's mission is to provide a unified voice for the
advocacy of our positions in all the arenas affecting the
criminal defense bar. This includes review and comment on local
and state rules of court, revised criminal jury instructions,
public information and political/legislative action, amicus on
cases of local interest or impact, speakers bureau, liaison with
other local and national like-minded organizations advocating for
our clients, our constitution, and justice; defense oriented
low-cost MCLE and other educational programs are offered
throughout the year.

Membership is open to licensed attorneys, both public or
private, who practice primarily in the area of criminal defense.
Not voting membership is offered to criminal defense
investigators. Attorney members must also join or belong to the
Kern County Bar Association.

Section dues are $40 for attorney members, $20 for
investigators. Attorneys in practice for under one year are
afforded free membership in both organizations for that first year.

Officers for 2004 are: H.A. Sala, President; Michael
Dellostritto, Vice-President; David Torres, Sec-Treas. Board of
Governors: Mark Arnold, Brian McNamara, Robin Walters, Rod
Williams, and Robert Young.

Members wishing to create a new section shall present to the Board written statement including the following:
  1. The names of ten or more Association members desiring to form the section.
  2. A proposal for electing officers, developing a budget and scheduling meetings.
  3. The purpose of the proposed section.
